Minutes from Parents as Partners
Nov. 29, 2007
- Laurie Singer addressed the new student-led parent-teacher conference format.
The results were mostly positive from parents and teachers alike. The 6th grade
had a couple of bottlenecks where the conferences were NOT student-led. Both the
7th and 8th grade formats were received positively as well.
Some parents were concerned with confidentiality. Laurie is looking for more
feedback and will continue to 'tweak' the process.
She is also gathering data for forming 'middle-school teams'.
- The Book Sale total sale was $1371.22 netting ADL a $342.82 cash value. There will
also be a spring book sale this year at which ADL will opt to take its profits in 'book value'.
- The December Concert is in need of 'bakers'. Mary Lou will call people. This will
ensure a reception after the concert.
- GASP is planned for March 7, 2008.
- A date is needed for the 7th grade Medieval Faire. Laurie will get that from the 7th grade teachers.
- The 6th grade igloo project is tentatively scheduled for early winter (snow dependant).
They will be looking for parent volunteers.
- Lisa Cray put in a request for money to buy plastic bins to organize the lost and found.
She feels 12 should be sufficient. $150 has been approved for her to spend from the Parents
as Partners budget.
- Another school dance will occur on Dec. 14. Laurie wanted to emphasize this is NOT a
semi-formal dance. Please dress appropriately.
- No all-school dance on March 28, 2008 as previously scheduled. Instead there will be an
8th grade EMS/ADL dance at EMS.
- The next Parents as Partners meeting will be Jan. 17, 2008 at 6:30 in the ADL Library.
All are welcome.
