Welcome by Gail who facilitated the meeting. Introductions by all.
Principal Report by Laurie Singer
- A brief update on the Algebra Seminar. 52 children signed up, 20 came. The outcome will be posted on the website. Overall great response. Also spoke about the variety of data and support available.
- Parent winter project: painting the boys’ locker room red and white on Jan. 9, 2010 from 9 – noon
- Student led conference were a success. Surveys are available online so far we have 110 responses. The results are interesting and helpful.
- Media Literacy spokesperson. Laurie asked if we would be interested in paying for ½ of the cost of this service. This speaker would point out how media influences students and how products are marketed specifically to this age group. It would be a 1 ½ hour presentation. Cost: about $100. Per grade level or $300 total. PaP will pay $150. Tentative date: April 8, 2010. Will open to parents of all Essex Junction schools.
Financial update – we have $1,199.21 in our account.

Follow up business:
- Sweatshirt sales - Placed an order for 25 sweatshirts.
- January 9th is the day set aside for this years beautification project which will be the painting of the boys locker room.
- Lost and found was held during the student led conferences. All left over clothes will be laundered and donated locally.
- Book fair results – sales $1406.17. Scholastic earning $562.47 we received $180 in free books. In all we were down $600 from last years sales. Thanks to Charlee Day for all her very hard work AGAIN at organizing and running the book fair. Discussion took place on the need to have two book fairs per year. It was stated if we could have someone run the book fair we should have two a year. We are looking for someone to consider taking this task over next year. If interested let Gail O’Connell know.
New Business:
- Calling all bakers – please donate a baked good for the Holiday Concert scheduled for December 10. Send in with your child and bring prior to the concert.
- H1N1 innoculations have been tentatively cancelled. Will keep you posted on when they will be given.
- Fun events for the teams on the last day before the Holiday break

- Discussion took place on a way to which we could better assist the teachers with tasks which they need to have performed both long term and short term. Discussed possibly having teachers set aside a small area in their classrooms where volunteers could go and get tasks to perform whether it’s photocopying, laminating, shredding and stapling without disrupting the class or taking up a teachers valuable time.
