Parents as Partners, Thursday June 3, 2010
Gail OConnell welcomed everyone to the last meeting of the year.
Financial report: Currently we have $915.47. Recent expenditures included snacks for the 8th grade NECAPS, replenishing the snack cart, and Teacher Appreciation week supplies. Laurie Singer noted that we did not make as much money this year due to lower sales from the Scholastic Book fairs. We do make some money from the Hannafords Helps Schools program (although due to changes in the program, not as much as in the past) and Box Tops for Education. While fundraising is not the focus of P.A.P., we may want to increase interest in next year’s book fairs.
End of Year Activities: Upcoming events include 8th grade sleepover, Spaghetti Dinner and Promotion Night. Committees are busy working on these events.
Updates: The Montreal trip for 8th grade French students was enjoyed by all who attended. The Memorial Day Assembly was very well done and included many student speakers. The final Music Concert was excellent and well attended.
To conclude this brief meeting, Kelly Charland presented Gail with a gift certificate for the Essex to thank her for her leadership of P.A.P. this year. Kelly will join Gail as a co-chair next year.
The evening ended with Principal Laurie Singer’s School Report. The information from this power point can be found on the ADL website.
